AbstractA  model  has  been  developed  to  account  the  perturbation  of  gravity  waves  disturbing  the  volume  emission  rate  of  mesospheric  airglow  layers.  The  model  was  combined with an image processing  algorithm  to  retrieve  the  dynamic  parameters  of  gravity  waves  modulating  the  airglow  radiance  due to its propagation through the  emission  layers.  The  procedure  provided  all  intrinsic  wave  parameters from the images but there are concerns about its accuracy  if  neither  measured  wind  nor  temperature  information  is  taken  into  account  before  the  parameter  estimation.  In  this  work  we use vertical profiles of background  wind  provided  by  meteor  radar  and  temperature  by  a  Na  Lidar as input  in the estimation procedure  to investigate the sensitivity of this  method and explore  the  influence of  those two atmospheric fields  on the results.  The main goal is to identify points for  improvements of the theoretical model and the parameter estimation accuracy. .
